About CloudCostDB

CloudCostDB is a free reference for AWS list prices. It covers compute, storage, managed databases, networking, and Bedrock AI models across every region, so you can compare options side by side without opening a dozen AWS pricing pages.

Who runs it

CloudCostDB is an independent project. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon Web Services. The blog and guides use the same dataset that powers the rest of the site.

Methodology

Where the prices come from

Every price comes from the AWS Price List bulk API: the public offer files AWS publishes for each service. A build pipeline downloads these files, filters them, and normalizes them into the tables you see here.

What's included

  • On-demand list prices in US dollars. No Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot, enterprise discounts (EDP), free-tier credits, or taxes.
  • EC2: shared-tenancy Linux and Windows (license included). Other operating systems and licensing models are excluded.
  • Every region AWS prices, including Local Zones, Wavelength Zones, and GovCloud where the service is offered.

How costs are calculated

  • Monthly cost = hourly price × 730 hours (365 days × 24 hours ÷ 12 months), the standard FinOps convention. Annual cost = hourly × 8,760.
  • $/vCPU-hr and $/GiB-hr divide the hourly price by vCPUs or by memory, to compare efficiency across sizes and families.
  • "From" prices are the lowest on-demand price across all regions where the resource is sold.
  • Units: memory is in GiB (230 bytes); disk and object storage are in GB (109 bytes), matching how AWS bills each.

How current it is

The pipeline refreshes each service's offer file and rebuilds the site. Every pricing page shows the date its data last changed at the bottom. The most recent change to any dataset was on .

AWS changes prices without notice. Always confirm with the AWS Pricing Calculator or your bill before you commit to a purchase. See the disclaimer for full terms.
